Auburn Hills Oakland Christian downs Southfield Christian 39-13 in Michigan high school football action on Friday, August 25, 2017

   Auburn Hills Oakland Christian opened the 2017 high school football season with a convincing 39-13 victory over Southfield Christian in Michigan Independent Athletic Conference action on Friday, Aug. 25, at Auburn Hills.

   The Lancers got on the board early in the first quarter as senior Hunter Washington forced a fumble and sophomore Christian Campbell picked it up and ran 20 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was missed to make the score 6-0.

   Senior Josh Siminski then tossed a 22-yard touchdown pass to senior Ryder Patterson. Siminski ran for an eight-yard touchdown on the next drive to increase the lead to 20-0.

   Senior Hunter Washington took a lateral from senior Seth Williams to score from the four-yard line to make it 27-0. Junior Luke McConnell ran for a nine-yard touchdown run to make the score 33-0 at halftime.

   Oakland Christian forced a running clock as they scored in the third quarter to increase their lead to 39-0.

   Southfield Christian (0-1) scored two late touchdowns to make the final 39-13.

   Oakland Christian (1-0) has a bye week next week. The Lancers host Detroit Public Safety Academy on Friday, Sept. 8.

   Southfield Christian travels to Allen Park Cabrini on Thursday, Aug. 31.
