Cranes win regional championship

Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood wins MHSAA Region 17 girls golf championship on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017

   Division 1 No. 1-ranked Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood won its fourth straight Michigan High School Athletic Association girls golf regional championship on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at West Shore Golf and Country Club in Grosse Ile.

   Cranbrook shot 349 in difficult rainy and windy conditions. No. 3-ranked Detroit Country Day finished second at 355. Pontiac Notre Dame Preparatory took the final state-qualifying spot, shooting 388.

   Carmen Chan shot 82 to lead Cranbrook. Kate Cao totaled 84. Katheryn Cohen finished at 87. Kailey Roberts shot 96. Georgia Mies totaled 100.

   Cranbrook heads to the MHSAA Division 3 championship on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 20-21, at Michigan State University’s Forest Hills Akers West.

   The Cranes finished runner-up in Division 3 2012-14 and won the title in 2006 and 2001.
